on today, the sonoma county board of supervisors will appoint both members of the public and law enforcement to this new panel. it will be a 21-member task force that ultimately will come up with an independent review process for officer-involved shootings here in sonoma county. the task force will consider various options including setting up a citizen review board or an independent citizen auditor. the final recommendations will be due a year from now. currently the district attorney looks at officer-involved shootings and decides if a crime was committed and then a grand jury reviews the findings but the anger over the death of andy lopez prompted calls for change. sheriff's deputy eric gelhaus shot and killed lopez after mistaking his bb gun for a real ak-47. the lopez family believes that shooting was unjustified and filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against boat the deputy and the department. the santa rosa police department is investigating that shooting. this county board of supervisors meeting will begin an hour from now. along with appointing members to the community
